Young Spurs Playing Well
It is really good to see the strides being made by the young Spurs lads -- check out the home page for all the details:
Our Academy will slug it out with Sevilla for a place in the semi-finals of the Tournoi International de Football de Monthey in Switzerland after beating FC Sion 3-1 on Thursday night.
The lads recovered in style from their opening night defeat against Real Murcia on Wednesday for a comfortable victory in the second of three group matches in this Under-20 tournament.
Tomas Pekhart's penalty and Jake Livermore's (pictured) 20-yard strike put us in the driving seat in the 70-minute match played in Aigle. Danny Rose extended the lead to 3-0 in the second half before a late consolation for FA Sion.
Coach Alex Inglethorpe reported: "It was a good reaction after the defeat against Murcia, very positive.
"Having said that, we were a bit lacklustre in the first half but we managed to go 2-0 up. Tomas Pekhart was brought down in the box for a penalty after 10 minutes, picked himself up and scored from the spot and Jake Livermore made it 2-0 with a decent strike from outside the box after 25 minutes.
"We were better in the second half and made it 3-0 after 60 minutes when Danny Hutchins took a quick free-kick to send Danny Rose away and he finished well. They pulled a goal back late on.
